14 Jan Baby Hell: Logo and Possible Controversy?
Today I would like to show you the logo I designed for the project of Baby Hell.
I painted it directly with shiny red ink over glossy cardboard, and took a photo of it.
Then I processed it in a digital retouching software, re-arranging the composition and making it a little bit brighter and blood-looking.
The style I’m looking for
The story of Baby Hell can be a little controversial I suppose. I mean, Heledahn is freaking nuts. She sick.
I don’t want to make something gore here. That is not the goal, although I see how the theme and the storyline could suggest the contrary.
I don’t want to create anything offensive or distasteful. But it is true that the story will be sometimes harsh and violent.
I have tried to make the logo as artistic and elegant as I could, while maintaining the disturbing feeling that the story requires.
To counteract slightly the dark nature of the story itself, I am going to use a wide variety of architectural and artistic styles, as well as references to intellectual and cultural themes such as Chess, Alice in Wonderland, Victorian and Gothic styles, Spanish Folklore, etc…
In the previous post, for example, I showed you a proposal for a Victorian themed set for using in the story.
Another example of what I’ve been experimenting with is the modeling and rendering of lovely yet unnerving dolls and marionettes such as this one:
When updating with news about the Baby Hell project, I will usually set the blood logo as a watermark, to distinguish the images as part of the Baby Hell universe.
There will be other times, that I will use the logo of the working title: Project Abyssmo (named after my fatest cat)
I will use this logo only for the contents that are in testing stage, or that can be somehow subject to controversy (like the nude marionette above, for example).
